Coffee Arabica is a coffee bean that originates from Ethiopia and Yemen. Coffee Arabica is also known as “mountain coffee” and “coffee shrub of Arabia” and believed to be the first species to be cultivated.
There is less caffeine in Arabica coffee then other species of coffee that are commercially cultivated. As legend has it, cultivation of coffee started after goats were seen becoming “frisky” after eating the fruit and leaves from coffee trees.
Coffee Arabica is considered a gourmet coffee that is grown at higher elevations. It takes seven years for Coffea Arabica to mature fully. Small, white, highly fragrant flowers bloom after two to four years of planting.
